Mandy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Play Therapist. She believes healing is a creative experience for both the clinician and client. Mandy utilizes Adlerian Play Therapy which emphasizes parents as partners. Skills center around the 4 C’s – capable, connect, courage, and count. Mandy loves incorporating a young person’s interests and hobbies into skill-building and processing. Mandy even loves including “nerdy” interests in the therapeutic space–think Legos, video games, board games, comics and superheroes. Her space is affirming and empathetic. She believes children hold the resources they need to heal, but sometimes, it requires external support and care to harness them.
Mandy has training in several different modalities with all ages, including Trauma-Focused Grief Therapy, Attachment Theory, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Filial Therapy. Mandy worked as a School Social Worker for Cobb County School District for 8 years. She is also a leader in an Atlanta-based arts non profit organization. She has spoken nationally and internationally on using the arts for healing and wellbeing.
Mandy loves a good walk. She seeks out quirky, out-of-the-ordinary roadside attractions and good SciFi/Fantasy stories. She, her partner, and their two pinball machines live in Marietta, Georgia.
