Melis started her counseling journey at Mercer University where she earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology. Following her bachelor’s she continued on to pursue a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Mercer University.
During her time as an undergraduate, Melis volunteered at local elementary schools in Macon, Georgia, and worked as a counselor at Florida International University’s Summer Treatment Program. There, she supported pre-kindergarten children facing emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges. Melis has also worked as a mental health behavioral technician at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, where she has continued to gain hands-on experience in supporting children and families. These diverse roles have deepened her passion for working in the therapeutic field and solidified her commitment to a career focused on the emotional and behavioral growth of children and families.
Melis is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and creative environment where clients can address emotional and behavioral challenges while fostering positive change. She takes a strengths-based approach to therapy, drawing on techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients develop effective coping strategies and build resilience. Her therapeutic interests include working with children and families experiencing Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), behavioral issues, life transitions, anxiety, and challenges with emotional regulation. Melis is committed to promoting healing and growth by creating a unique, creative space where clients can feel empowered to explore their emotions, build self-awareness, and develop the tools needed for lasting change.
Melis will be transitioning to the Alpharetta location starting March 1st, 2025.
