Celebrate Spring

For the best of our communities are all staying at home, but cabin fever is starting to set in. This week I took a bike ride in the community and it lifted my mood. To be completely honest, I didn’t know how badly I needed to get outside. I found my mood was light for the rest of the evening. Let’s welcome Spring by being outside today!

  • Have a picnic in the back yard

  • Do yard work together

  • Go for a walk or bike ride in the neighborhood

  • Have a bonfire

  • Set up a hammock

  • Read for 20 minutes outside on a blanket

  • Play freeze tag and hide and go seek

  • Let your kid teach you an outside game

  • Use sidewalk chalk

  • Blow bubbles (kids of all ages love bubble!)

  • When it rains, put on a raincoat and rain boats and play in the rain

  • Use old Amazon boxes to build a fort. Take it down and see what else you can create!

  • Make soapy water in a bucket or a large Rubbermaid container. Then have your kids wash their toys.

  • Play “I Spy with my Little Eye”

  • See what objects you can find in the clouds

  • Stack empty boxes and knock them down with a small ball. You can stack them in a tower or do bowling style.

  • Write large numbers on paper plates and toss a ball (or sock with rice). See who can score the most points.

  • Stack Solo cups in a tower and use a water gun to knock them over

  • Give your kids supplies (ropes, water hose, toys, sport equipment) and have them create an obstacle course for the family

  • Create a giant tic-tac-toe board with sidewalk chalk and paper plates for X and O.
